About Zoe Harrison, LCMHCA (she/her)

I love working with Queer folks because I know how complicated and overwhelming coming out can be.

I also know how rewarding it can feel to reach peace, understanding, and self-acceptance.

I love supporting questioning young adults because I know how confusing and scary getting to know yourself can feel.

I provide a safe space for young adults questioning their gender and/or sexuality to process their feelings, thoughts, and all their questions at their own pace.

As a Queer individual myself, I know firsthand the joys and difficulties of navigating LGBTQ+ life right now.

I grew up in Austin, Texas, where, much like in Charlotte, I was surrounded by a thin bubble of relative acceptance. That bubble, however, does not always include some of our dearest family members and friends, and that hurts. That bubble does not always include ourselves, either, in the ways that heteronormativity, homophobia and transphobia have been societally baked in to our psyches.

I love helping Queer individuals find, accept, and give love to their truest selves, because I know how incredible it feels.

 FAQs

  • I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC Charlotte and am licensed in North Carolina as an LCMHCA (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Associate). I receive supervision for my practice, meaning I meet regularly with a highly experienced mentor to discuss my client cases.

  • My clinical experience is with a wide range of clients facing all types of struggles! In addition to LGBTQ+ related issues, I have worked with grief and loss, trauma, disability, depression, anxiety and more.

  • I take a very personalized approach with each client and I always discuss client preferences and interests before beginning work together - I want to know what you like. I often use a parts-based approach, pulling from Internal Family Systems and attachment theory. I also enjoy using expressive arts-based therapies with clients of all ages, including Sand Tray.

  • I believe strongly in providing Queer and trans-affirming, anti-racist, trauma-informed, disability-friendly, body-liberationist, sex positive, sensory-friendly, CNM-affirming (consensually non-monogamous) care for all my clients.
